Thirty-six tour type modified race teams came to Wall Township ready to compete
for a spot in the thirty-sixth Turkey Derby race at Wall Stadium. Twenty-six cars survived qualification and took the green
flag at the start of the traditional Thanksgiving event. The Turkey Derby race started as usual. Racers with home track advantages
dominated the track and were ready to take home the top spots. But as the race end unraveled, a mean twist of fate was dealt
to the then race leader, Jimmy Blewett. With only nine laps to go, officials black flagged Blewett for fluid leaking from
his car. Until then Blewett had proven he had the car to beat as he was able to pit and come back through the field to take
the race lead....full story by Denis DuPont LIVE Replay with Denise DuPont Pennink interview video by Jim DuPont track story Saturday finishes photo gallery by Howie Hodge photo gallery by Fran Lawlor photo gallery by Jim DuPont photo gallery by Reid & Richie Grodski |

PENNINK AND BLEWETT ARE WALL TURKEY DERBY MODIFIED WINNERS
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Station, Pa. and Jimmy Blewett of Howell split 100-lap main events
for Modified stock cars during Turkey Derby stock car racing at Wall Stadium Saturday. The northeast season finale program
was witnessed by one of the largest gatherings in recent memory.
In the tour type Modified race, Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. led the first 39 laps before Pennink took the lead
with a pass in the outside lane. Pennick then paced the 26-car field through lap 83 when Blewett took the top spot. Pennick
stayed on Blewett’s rear bumper for the following laps, but Blewett’s good fortunes were running out as his No.
66 started to spray oil. Soon Blewett was sent to the pit area because of the problem and Pennick regained the lead.
Pennink’s final ten laps were not easy, however, as Pete Brittain of Oakhurst hounded him to the finish. Howell’s
Jamie Tomaino, Jon McKennedy and Anthony Sesely of Matawan wrapped up the top five.
“Jimmy (Blewett) was running real strong until the end when he had that oil problem. Then Pete (Brittain) ran
me real hard but clean to the very end,” Pennick said. “This is great. The car was great and this is a race that
I really wanted to win.”
In the companion 100-lapper for the speedway’s weekly Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified division, Blewett was at
the top of his game as he jumped to the early lead. Blewett paced the 24-car field until he pitted for new tires on lap 53.
That handed the lead to Brittain who paced the pack until he stopped for new tires on lap 69. Sesely then took command, but
Blewett was soon on his bumper before making the winning pass with just 24 laps remaining.
At the checker flag it was Blewett, Sesely, Pennink, Chas Okerson of Freehold and Toms River’s Tim Arre.
“After the disappointment in the first feature, this wins feels pretty good,” Blewett said. “We ran
a Dodge motor here all season and won a lot of races with it. Now we have a Chevy in there and it runs just as strong.”
In Saturday’s support division action, Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck crossed the finish line first in the Sportsman
30-lapper, but when officials decided that the late-race battle for the lead got a little too heated, Kevin Davison of Howell
was awarded the win. Mike Smith of Spring Lake Heights was second and Eyres was placed third. Long Island’s Dan Turbush
hitched a ride in his son’s car and drove away with the Street Stock 30-lap main event win over Gregg Miranda of Hazlet
and Jon Meyer of Toms River.
Paul Lotier, Jr. won the 25-lapper for the A.T.Q.M.R.A. Midgets for a second straight year over Tim Buchwalter and
Robin Johnson. Alison Cumens’ fifth place finish was enough to make her the first female driving champion in the history
of the open cockpit club.
During Friday’s day one of Turkey Derby, New Hampshire’s Wayne Helliwell raced to victory in the 50-lap
Late Model Stock car feature race over Mike Coll and Michael Bologna. North Carolina’s Daniel Hemric also made a long
trip worthwhile as he won Friday’s 25-lapper for the Legend Cars over Zach Alspach and Roger Coss. Vern McLaughlin won
a battle for the win with team mate Richard Petey in Friday’s 30-lapper for the Factory Stocks. Tim O’Shea was
third.
The next event on the Wall Stadium schedule is set for this Saturday, December 5, as the speedway host’s the
annual “Automotive Swap- Meet.” Gates open at 7:30 a.m. and buyers are welcome free of charge, while vendors will
pay a nominal fee. For more information call 732-681-3776.

Howell’s Jamie Tomaino was the first driver to enter the tour type Modified field for their 100-lap event and
will be joined by other locals favorites Steven Reed of Freehold, Tommy Farrell of Neptune, Justin Gumley of Colts Neck and
Anthony Sesely of Matawan. Oakhurst’s Pete Brittain and Howell speedsters Ken Woolley, Jr. and Jimmy Blewett will also
attract the attention of local fans. Several invading tour type Modified drivers have also registered for the 100-lapper including
Rowan Pennick, Doug Coby, Ken Barry, Eric Goodale and Ed Brunnhoelzl III.
Reed, Farrell, Sesely, Brittain, Blewett and Pennick will be doing double duty as each has also registered for the
100-lap RBSS Modified race. Their competition will come for 2009 champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, Farmingdale’s Billy
Cole, Brick’s Robert Geibel and Adam LaCicero, just to name a few.
Jimmy Blewett will perhaps be the busiest man
at the Turkey Derby as he plans to compete in Friday’s 75-lap Late Model main event in addition to Saturday’s
two 100-lap Modified features. Several top veteran Late Model racers have also registered including Pennsylvania standouts
Roger Oxee and Zane Zeiner and Long Island favorite Buzzy Ericksen. Also of interest will be local racer Rob Ormsbee of Belmar
who will be attempting to top the field of paved track cars with his dirt track Late Model stock car.

This is an error. It is supposed to read "both the tour type Modifieds and the T.Q. Midgets will compete in qualifying events on

Even the best of intentions don't always go as planned. A few months ago, with
the help of Don Ling, the Blewetts, and a host of others; it was decided to run an open competition modified race at Wall
Stadium at the end of October, paying the winner a cool $12,000 to the winner. It was to be called the Tom Comerford Memorial,
in honor of the former modified driver who passed away a couple years ago. Initially the race was to be 132 laps, honoring
the number Comerford and John Blewett III ran at Wall. After some discussion, it was decided that the race would be run in
two 66 lap segments, with each winner getting $6600.00....full story

BLEWETT AND SESELY POCKET BIG CASH IN WALL STADIUM’S “COMERFORD MEMORIAL”
SUNDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Jimmy Blewett of Howell and Anthony Sesely of Matawan
each pocketed an unprecedented $6,600 for winning 66-lap tour type Modified feature races during the “Tommy Comerford
Memorial” Sunday afternoon at Wall Stadium. Riches were also spread through each 24-car field as a total purse of $40,000
was offered.
In the opening 66-lapper, Les Hinckley of Windsor Locks, Conn. and Tommy Farrell of Neptune wrestled for the lead early
swapping the top spot on restarts while Blewett ducked into the pit area several times for adjustments on his No. 66 Comerford
tribute car. Tim Arre of Toms River and Danny Bohn of Huntersville, N.C. also got into the lead battle later on as Blewett
marched to the front.
The turning point in the race came with just 12 laps to go when Hinckley and Bohn pushed high in turn two while battling
for the lead and Blewett dove low to take the lead and eventual win. Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. also raced through
the hole to grab second, while Keith Rocco of Wallingford, Conn., Hinckley and Ray Evernham of Huntersville, N.C. wrapped
up the top five.
In the second tour Modified 66-lapper, Sesely and Justin Gumley of Colts Neck fought for the lead in the early going.
Soon Earl Paules of Palmerton, Pa. took his turn at the front before Sesely took command for good. Hirschman had a great day
as he raced to his second straight runner-up finish, while Rocco grabbed his second straight third place run. Gumley and Paules
wrapped up the top five.
In support division action Kevin Davison of Howell was the class of the field in Calabreeze Pools Sportsman division
action as he swept a pair of 25-lappers. In the first race, rain postponed from September 26, Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck nailed
down the 2009 driving title by finishing second, while Mike Smith of Wall, Andrew Krause of East Brunswick and Randy MacConnell
of Toms River were third through fifth. In the second race, Smith chased Davison across the finish line, with Matt Przemielewski
Toms River, Ken Green of Farmingdale and Tom Kearns of Howell wrapping up the top five.
Jon Meyer of Toms River also had a great day sweeping a pair of 20-lappers for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory
Stocks. In the first race, Howell’s Elliott Wohl actually crossed the finish line first, but when his car failed a post
race inspection the win went to Meyer. Flemington’s Tom Fratesi was the runner-up, with Bryan Flanagan of Hazlet, Steve
Lynch of Aberdeen and Tim Flanagan of Hazlet third through fifth. Former champ Rob Longo of Wall was the runner-up in the
second race, while Roy Farfel of Wall, Union’s Joey Helberg and Joe Constandi of Flemington were third through fifth.
Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls nailed down the 2009 Street Stock championship by winning the rain postponed 25-lap feature.
Ralph Gargiulo of Allenwood was second, with Jackson’s Howie Conk third. Conk came back to win the nightcap over Thomas
and Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen.
Zach Alspach of Willingboro made a trip back from New Mexico, where he attends college, worthwhile by winning the 25-lapper
for the Legend Cars. Brian Spencer, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Kenny Van Wickle and Bobby Baltera completed the top five.
The next event on the Wall Stadium schedule is set for this Sunday (Nov. 8) when a $5 Family Fun Day is on the agenda.
The events, which feature Enduro, Legend Cars and 4C SuperModified racing, were started earlier this season to the overwhelming
approval of budget minded auto racing fans. Tickets for fans age 13 and up are just $5, while those age 12 and under are admitted
free. Action is slated to start at 2:00 p.m.

LATE MODEL STOCK CARS WILL HEADLINE TURKEY DERBY FRIDAY NOVEMBER 27 AT WALL STADIUM
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ After proving to be very popular during their 100-lap championship event here earlier this season,
Wall Stadium promoter Jim Morton has announced that the Late Model Stock cars will headline day one action during the annual
Turkey Derby at the shore speedway. The Late Models are set to race in a 50-lap main event on Friday, November 27, during
the paved track’s first day of the two-day Turkey Derby festivities.
When the Late Models first appeared at Wall back on June 27, New Jersey favorite Jim Wismer took down a popular 100-lap
victory over Mike Colt, Dave McOmbee, Kevin Metzger and Mike Sweeney.
“Ever since we featured the Late Models back in June we have been getting requests to bring them back,”
Morton said. “Since the Turkey Derby is in late November and no other track is operating then, it makes for the perfect
opportunity. Judging by conversations that we’ve had with Late Model competitors, it looks like we could draw a pretty
big field of Late Models on November 27.”
The annual Turkey Derby is a two-day speedfest featuring tour type Modified, Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified, Calabreeze
Pools Sportsman, Street Stock, INEX Legend Car, Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock and now Late Model cars in racing
action. The traditional northeast season closing event is always held during the daylight hours on Friday and Saturday of
Thanksgiving weekend.
Wall Stadium
is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit

"Fan Appreciation Night " Race Results ( Thanks Jeff ! ) :
CHAS OKERSON WINS MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP BY WINNING RACE
SATURDAY AT WALL STADIUM
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Trailing Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified point leader
Shaun Carrig of Little Falls by just five markers going into Saturday night’s Surfside Collision main event at Wall
Stadium, Freehold’s Chas Okerson knew that he had to win the 40-lap feature to guarantee his first ever Modified driving
title. After starting sixth, Okerson charged through the pack to take the lead late in the race to win his second main event
of the year and the driving crown.
After a gigantic on track party with the fans, drivers, crews and the racecars got “Fan Appreciation Night”
started, the regular season finale of the Able Ford Subaru Racing Series saw Freehold’s Steven Reed settle into the
lead of the Modified 40-lapper after a couple of skirmishes in the early going. Soon title contenders Carrig and Okerson were
fighting tooth and nail as they raced in second and third spots, respectively.
Okerson used a lap 10 restart to slip by Carrig for second, but that still was not enough for him to steal away the
title. The turning point in both the event and the season-long race for the title came with ten laps remaining when Reed left
the event while leading because of a leaking power steering pump. That moved Okerson to the front with Carrig trying to charge
into the lead before fading in the closing laps.
At the finish it was six-time Pro Stock champion Okerson grabbing the win and his first ever Modified title, while
Tommy Farrell of Neptune was second. Pete Brittain of Cream Ridge, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and Carrig completed the
top five.
“We wrecked this car real bad back on opening night and I wanted to park it then,” Okerson said after the
race. “But my father wanted to rebuild it and my wife came up with a few extra dollars to get it back on the track.
The crew and the sponsors are the people that really won this title for us.
“Luck has a lot to do with how things go in racing. I’ve had both bad luck and good luck this season. Tonight,
a lot of things went my way for us to win this title.”
Mike Alcaro of Newton took the lead at the outset and drove on to win the I.N.E.X. Legend Cars 25-lap main event. Mark
Tischler of Martinsville was on the leader’s bumper from start to finish and used his runner-up finish to nail down
his first ever driving title. Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Mike Carroll of Hellertown, Pa. and Mike Fulton of Bridgewater
were third through fifth.
As the Calabreeze Pools Sportsman division cars were on the speedway to start their 25-lapper, rain began to fall.
That rain eventually forced the postponement of the Sportsman race plus the Street Stock 25-lapper and the Flanagan Retail
Development 20-lapper until October 24 when those driving titles will be decided.
The next event on the big-track’s Saturday schedule is set for October 24 when the first ever “Tommy Comerford
Memorial,” a twin 66-lap event for the tour type Modifieds offering a total purse of $40,000, will be presented during
the daylight hours. The Sportsman cars, Street Stocks, Legend Cars and Factory Stocks will also be on the agenda.
While the
big track waits for the October 24, Sunday afternoons will continue to feature the “Small Car Series” on the fifth
mile paved “inner oval.” Legend Cars,
Bandoleros, TQ Midgets, Open Karts, Champ Karts, Microstocks and World Formulas are on the card. For more information on the

WALL STADIUM TITLES TO BE DETERMINED ON SEPTEMBER 26
“FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT”
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ The long roads to several Able Ford Subaru Racing Series titles will come to an end on September
26 as Wall Stadium presents its regular season finale. It will also be fan appreciation night as the fans will be invited
to walk down onto the high banked paved oval and visit with race teams on the track before action begins. The entire evening
is being sponsored by Surf Side Collision in Brick, N.J. and main events will begin at 7:30 p.m.
In the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified division the war for the title will go down to the final lap as just five points
separate title contenders Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Freehold’s Chas Okerson. The Modifieds are slated for a 40-lap
main event on September 26 and other top contenders like Howell’s Jimmy Blewett, Toms Rivers’ Tim Arre and Scott
Riggleman of Manchester, just to name a few, are expected to see action. In addition to first place points and prize money,
the winner of the event will also earn a guaranteed starting spot in the Sportsman Modified portion of Shangri La II Speedway's
"Fall Brawl" on Saturday, October 3.
In addition to the Modified title, Fan Appreciation Night action at Wall
Stadium will see several other
champions crowned. Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck is expected to be on hand to nail down the Calabreeze Pools Sportsman crown in
a 25-lapper, while Tinton Falls’ speedster Carl Thomas is expected to make his Street Stock title official in a 25-lap
feature and Mark Tischler of Martinsville will be in the field to secure the INEX Legend Cars title in a 25-lap main event.
Fans will have to wait until the final Flanagan Retail Development point race on October 24 to see who earns the crown as
the September 26 Factory Stock main event is a non-points awarding affair.
In an effort to show the fans of the speedway his appreciation for a great 2009 regular season, promoter Jim Morton
is offering fans a chance to save money on “Tommy Comerford Memorial” tickets on “Fan Appreciation Night.”
Any fan that comes to the grandstand area on September 26 will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the October 24
event at an impressive discount. On “Fan Appreciation Night” fans in attendance can buy a $30 adult ticket for
just $25 at a special table to be set up in the midway area.
On September 26, the speedway’s pit area will open at noon with a paid practice being offered from 1:00 p.m.
until 3:00 p.m. An open practice is then set from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., before the on-track “Fan Appreciation Night”
activities begin.
At 5:00 p.m. young racers from the Garden State Quarter Midget Racing Club, which competes on a small track on the
speedway grounds, will drive onto the big track and take a couple of laps. Once they are parked, every car from the Wall Stadium
pit area will be driven onto the speedway and parked. Once the cars, the crews and the drivers are on the track, every fan
from the grandstands will be invited onto the track to see the cars and meet the drivers and crews.
On-track activities will continue until approximately 6:30 p.m. Qualifying as required will be next on the agenda before
the Surf Side Collision main events take the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
While the
big track then waits for the October 24 “Tommy Comerford memorial,” Sunday afternoons will continue to feature
the “Small Car Series” on the fifth mile paved “inner oval.” Legend Cars, Bandoleros, TQ Midgets, Open Karts, Champ Karts, Microstocks and World Formulas
are on the card. For more information on the Sunday Series visit http://wtssundayseries.synthasite.com

OCTOBER 24 “TOMMY COMERFORD MEMORIAL” AT WALL STADIUM WILL FEATURE TOUR
TYPE MODIFIEDS
IN TWIN 66’S PAYING $6,600 TO WINNERS
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Wall Stadium promoter Jim Morton has announced a
change in format for the upcoming “Tommy Comerford Memorial” set for Saturday, October 24. In stead of the originally
announced 150-lap distance, race organizers have decided to present two 66-lap main events offering each winner a cool $6,600
payday. A total purse of $40,000 is up for grabs at present and that could climb as the event approaches.
“Tommy Comerford was a short-track racer through and through,” Morton said. “He both loved and excelled
in short-distance, pedal to the metal Modified stock car races. When we looked at that, and at how exciting our tour type
Modified twin 50’s were earlier this year, we decided to make the change.”
Comerford,
who passed away a few years ago due to natural causes, was an 11-time Modified main event winner here with the majority of
those victories coming at the wheel of Don Ling’s No. 66, thus the 66-lap races and the $6,600 winning payoffs. He was
well-liked and respected by both the fans and competitors.
Morton said that entry forms for the “Tommy Comerford Memorial” will be available at the speedway office
and on the speedway website (www.wallspeedway.com) by the middle of September. A graduated entry fee schedule will be in effect with racers who register by October
1 paying $50, those signing up between October 1 and October 15 paying $150 and a $200 entry fee for all cars registered after
October 15.
Morton said that race will serve as a qualifier for both the North/South Shootout near Concord, N.C. in early November
and for the Turkey Derby. He also said that more details of the 1st ever “Tommy Comerford Memorial,”
such as starting times and supporting divisions, are still being worked out and will be announced soon.

BLEWETT (MODIFIEDS) AND EYRES (SPORTSMAN) ARE
WALL STADIUM WINNERS SATURDAY (9/5/09)
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Jimmy Blewett of Howell grabbed his fifth win of
the year in the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modifieds and Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck won his fifth feature of the season in the Calabreeze
Pools Sportsman division Saturday night at Wall Stadium. The Able Ford Subaru Racing Series wins were important to both drivers
as they occurred on Nick Roslin Memorial Night at the shore speedway.
In the Modified 40-lapper, Chris Hamilton of North Haledon was the leader once the first few laps shook out, with Tim
Arre of Toms River and Blewett riding second and third by the time ten laps were completed. Blewett then dove to the inside
to take over second on a lap 12 restart and immediately began to harass the leader. This battle finally boiled over 15 laps
later as the trio touched in the fourth turn.
As a result, Hamilton went spinning to the apron while Blewett and Arre raced home first and second. Adam LaCicero
of Lavallette, Little Falls’ Shaun Carrig and Chas Okerson of Freehold were third through fifth.
“Once I got to second, I tried to get by him (Hamilton) high and low and every time he’d block me,”
Blewett said. “I don’t blame him. I would have done the same thing. Then in turn four he slowed up and I couldn’t
so he went spinning.”
In the 50-lap Sportsman race, Mike Smith of Wall took advantage of a pole starting spot to lead the first 40-laps.
When Smith went spinning in turn two, Matt Przemielewski and Kevin Davison took over the fight for first until they tangled
momentarily on lap 45. That handed the lead and eventual win to point leader Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck, while Przemielewski
and Davison recovered for second and third. Smith was fourth at the stripe and Brick’s Robert Sutphin was fifth.
“This is a great win for my team, but I was real lucky tonight,” Eyres said. “I was real comfortable
riding in the top five and looking at the points. Then things started to happen to the cars in front of me.”
Mark Tischler of Martinsville won his second 25-lap INEX Legend Cars feature of the year leading from start to finish.
Robert French of Howell and Roger Coss of Lafayette wrestled for second all the way to the final lap before tangling and handing
the runner-up spot to Mike Stull of Trenton. Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Bobby Baltera of Flemington and Kevin Nowak of
Medford, N.Y. were third through fifth.
Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg battled a misfiring engine in the final circuits to win the 25-lap feature for the Street
Stocks. Gregg Miranda of Hazlet was a tight second, while Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood, Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls and Ralph
Gargiulo of Allenwood completed the top five.
Richard Petey of Hackettstown grabbed his first win of the year in the 20-lapper for the Flanagan Retail Development
Factory Stocks. Union’s Joey Helberg, Tom Fratesi of Flemington, Rob Longo of Wall and Jon Meyer of Toms River were
second through fifth.
The next
racing event on the Wall Stadium schedule is the September 26 regular season finale. It will be “Fan Appreciation Night”

JIMMY BLEWETT WINS “JOHN BLEWETT MEMORIAL 76”
SATURDAY NIGHT AT WALL STADIUM
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Jimmy Blewett has won longer races, higher paying racers and bigger races, but his victory in
the Able Ford Subaru Racing Series at Wall Stadium Saturday night was probably one of his most important. The young Howell
veteran took advantage of a second starting spot, determined by the luck of the draw, to race to victory in the first ever
“John Blewett III Memorial 76,” a race presented in memory of his late brother who passed away in a Connecticut
racing accident two years ago.
Blewett took full advantage of that front row starting spot as he led the 76 lap race for Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified
stock cars from start to finish. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls was Blewett’s first challenger, before eventual runner-up
Steve Reed of Freehold advanced to second on lap 19. Reed then chased Blewett to the checker flag, with Tim Arre of Toms River,
Carrig and Freehold’s Chas Okerson completing the top five.
“This win is a special one,” Blewett said of the emotional win. “I just hope this put a smile on
my father’s face. It has been a long, tough two years for all of us.
“I also have to thank all the guys who work on this car for making this win possible. I also have to thank my
grandfather for giving me all the time off I need to make this deal work.”
In just his seventh start, Andrew Krause of East Brunswick led from start to finish claiming his first ever 25-lap
win in Calabreeze Pools Sportsman division action. Brick’s Robert Sutphin and Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck were right on
his bumper most of the way, while Dan Roslin of Little Egg Harbor and Howell’s Kevin Davison were fourth and fifth.
Brick’s Bryan Gardella fought off the challenges of Howell’s Robert French to win his first 25-lap INEX
Legend Cars main event of the season. Mark Tischler of Martinsville, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Zach Alspach were third
through fifth.
Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls grabbed his fifth win of the year in the Street Stock 25-lap feature after taking the lead
from Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen with a lap 13 pass. Vanderveen was the runner-up, followed by Gregg Miranda of Hazlet,
Howell’s Dave Jennings and Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg.
After threading the needle with a three-wide back stretch pass on lap 12, Paul Hartwig, Jr. of Brick went on to win
his second 20-lap Flanagan Retail Development feature race. Union’s Joey Helberg was second, while Whitey Miller of
Jamesburg, Mike Bilello of Neptune and Hackettstown’s Richard Petey, who was the early leader, wrapped up the top five.
The
next event on the schedule is set for this Saturday night, August 22, when the N.E.E.T.S. Enduro Series visits the shore speedway.
In addition the INEX Legend Cars and the 4C SuperModifieds will be on the “Family Fun Night” agenda. On Saturday
evening, fans aged 13 and older will be admitted to the grandstands for just $5, while fans aged 12 and under will be admitted
free of charge. Racing starts at 7:00 p.m. and spectator grandstand seating and on-track
practice will open at 5:00 p.m.

PETE BRITTAIN MAY RACE IN JOHN BLEWETT III MEMORIAL 76
SATURDAY NIGHT (AUGUST 15) AT WALL STADIUM
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Wall Stadium promoter Jim Morton says that his sources
indicate that tour type Modified stock car driver Pete Brittain will race in the first annual “John Blewett III Memorial”
76 lap race for the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified stock cars Saturday night (August 15) at the shore speedway. Qualifying
is set for 6:00 p.m. with Able Ford Subaru Racing Series main event competition schedule to start at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
Brittain should be a favorite in the event since he was the track’s 1990 Modified champion and a 17-time main
event winner. His most recent victory came just last Saturday night as he won the first of two 50-lap races for tour type
Modified stock cars. Brittain will reportedly be at the wheel of Tilton Motorsports No. 77, a car that won here with Anthony
Sesely at the wheel on August 1.
Brittain will have plenty of competition as almost all of the top RBSS Modified drivers at the speedway have made it
clear that this is an event that they want to win. Eight time champion Dave Michel of Manahawkin says that he will be in the
field, along with point leader Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Chas Okerson of Freehold, Lavallette’s Adam LaCicero, Scott
Riggleman of Manchester, Tim Arre of Toms River and Anthony Sesely of Manalapan. Perhaps the sentimental favorite in the contest
will be John Blewett III’s brother, multi-time 2009 winner Jimmy Blewett of Howell.
Many members of the Blewett family, led by patriarch John Blewett, Sr., will be on hand to greet the winner. John Blewett
