Updates on Wall Stadium (Including a letter from a fan,and email addresses for the owners )

" Open letter to the owners" (from a fan . Thanks Tom !) :

To Fred Archer, Tim Shinn, Joseph Sanzari and Fletch Creamer and other silent partners:

Once again, the race fans of New Jersey have had their hearts ripped out by the closing of Wall Stadium. Whether this is by your collective hands or not, this is yet another sad day in the recent history of Wall and it will ultimately be laid at your collective doorsteps. These are just the facts as the public will see them. I am not writing this to bash you gentlemen, but it needs to be said: Wall Stadium is a very special place that needs to continue on. Whether you like it or not, you are the caretakers of Wall's proud traditions

I implore you that if a racing group or individuals want to purchase the property please consider their offers. I have heard unsubstantiated rumors of Bruton Smith, Ray Evernham and also the Truex family are possibly interested in purchasing the track. I was in my families rigging and construction business before I got into my current career, and have had dealings with all of you at one time or another. My Dad dealt with United Crane for years, although in later years he dealt with Tim's late brother Ed (Jensen Koerner Crane) as he was closer to our operations. We still used you when we had work in your area. I bid steel fabricating work to all the others too. I brought this up to make a point: You all run successful, family owned companies that have been around for years. You have all made a lot of money- remember, I saw the dollar value on some of the jobs you were awarded. I realize Wall was an investment and real estate went in the tank, but it is much more than that.

Whether you like it or not, you are caretakers of racing history, and you will be judged by your future actions. All I am asking is to please consider all options, even if they do not make money for you. If it can be leased to someone at a break even cost please consider it. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Remember, history will judge each of you on your actions. The fans and racers are counting on you. Please do not disappoint us.

STOCK CARS READY FOR “LABOR DAY SATURDAY” AT WALL STADIUM –

MAIN EVENTS GET GREEN FLAG AT 7:30 P.M.

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Although the 2010 stock car racing regular season will continue through September at Wall Stadium, five divisions of stock cars are ready to race on Saturday night (Sept. 4) to mark Labor Day weekend and the unofficial close of summer at the Jersey Shore. Spectator seating is slated to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action slated for 7:30 p.m.

After several weeks of offering the popular format, Wall Stadium will again present “Twin 20’s” for the Supreme Manufacturing Modified stock cars this Saturday night. In addition, Sportsman racers, Street Stocks and Legend Cars will compete in 25-lap feature races, while the Factory Stocks cap off the evening in a 20-lap main event.

Although defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold is currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition in his quest for Modified “Twin 20” glory and a second straight crown. Freehold’s Steve Reed and Shaun Carrig of Little Falls were winners in last Saturday evening’s “Twin 20’s” action, but competition will also come from Roger Coss of Lafayette, Tim Arre of Toms River, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and David Reinhardt of Neptune City, just to name a few.

While 2009 champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will lead the Sportsman field in Saturday’s companion 25-lapper, standouts Robert Sutphin of Brick, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Eric Mauriello of Howell, 2009 “Rookie of the Year” Andrew Krause of Holmdel and last week’s winner Kevin Davison of Howell will be among those offering competition.

In the INEX Legend Cars ranks, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach is sure to be at the front of the pack, while point leader Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood attempts to stretch his slim advantage in the Street Stock 25-lapper. Rob Longo of Wall, the track’s first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock driving champ and current point leader, will be going after his fifth win of the season in the 20-lapper this Saturday night.

The current schedule for the September 4 card will see the competitor pit area open at 2:30 p.m.; with the regular afternoon practice session set to begin at 4:00 p.m. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. and qualifying will start at 6:30 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 7:30 p.m.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. REED AND CARRIG WIN MODIFED “TWIN 20’S”; HOPKINSON TAKES “LEGENDS 40” AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Freehold’s Steven Reed and Shaun Carrig of Little Falls were winners in Modified twin 20 lap main events and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River took top honors in the 40- lap championship race for the Legend Cars at Wall Stadium Saturday night. In companion action, Kevin Davison of Freehold won the 25-lap Sportsman race, Toms River’s Dave Jennings won the Street Stock 20-lapper and Brick’s Ronnie Mullen was tops in Factory Stock racing.

In the first 20-lapper for the Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds, Reed jumped to the front early and paced the pack the entire way. Chris Hamilton of North Haledon quickly advanced to second and chased Reed to the finish. Point leader Chas Okerson of Freehold was third at the stripe, with Tommy Farrell of Neptune fourth and Tim Arre of Toms River fifth.

“This was my first race back since I broke my wrist,” Reed said. “It feels real good to win. The cast makes it a little harder to control the car, but all in all I think it was pretty good.”

With the top six finishers inverted for the second 20-lapper, Carrig jumped to the lead early while Farrell and Arre fought for second. When Farrell spun from second on the second lap, Hamilton advanced to the runner-up spot and chased Carrig to the checker flag. Reed crossed the line third in this one, with Okerson and Arre completing the top five.

“I took it a little easy in that first race because I knew we would be inverting for the second,” Carrig said. “The car was real fast tonight thanks to my family and crew. We’re having a pretty good year.”

The 40-lap championship race for the INEX Legend Cars was a thriller from start to finish. Joe Mongeau of Brick led the first four laps before Hopkinson raced into the lead. Soon Mike Alcaro of Newton and point leader Trevor Alspach closed in to make it an exciting three-car fight for first.

As the race wore on the trio battled for the top spot and each took a turn out front as they diced for position. Hopkinson’s final pass for the lead came in lapped traffic on lap 30 and he raced on to victory over Alcaro, Alspach, Mongeau and Edison’s Brian Spencer.

“Two weeks and two wins is pretty awesome,” Hopkinson said in the winner’s circle. “My family makes this all possible. They sacrifice a lot for us to race.”

In companion action Kevin Davison of Freehold took top honors in the 25-lap Sportsman feature after Andrew Krause of Holmdel, who crossed the finish line first, failed a post race inspection with his No. 27. Howell’s Chris Lane, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Howell’s Eric Mauriello and Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck wrapped up the top five.

Former champion Dave Jennings of Toms River grabbed his first win since 2006 in the 20-lapper for the Street Stock racers. Mike Kennedy of Pt. Pleasant, Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood, Jackson’s Howie Conk and Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg were second through fifth.

Brick’s Ronnie Mullen became the first driver to win in four different Wall Stadium divisions as he claimed the 20-lapper for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks. Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach was the runner-up, followed by Red Bank’s Rick Williams, Flemington’s Tom Fratesi and point leader Rob Longo of Wall.

Stock car action continues at Wall Stadium this Saturday night, September 4, with five divisions of racing action. The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will go the 40-lap distance. The Sportsman racers, Legend Cars and the Street Stocks will compete in 25-lappers, while the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature.

Pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m. on September 4, with the regular practice session starting at 4:00 p.m., while grandstand seating will also open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action is set for 7:30 p.m.

Fans are reminded that September 11 will be “Banner Night” at the stadium. Awards will be presented for the best banners in categories for fans age 11 and under, fans 12 to 16 years of age, fans 16 years old and over and for the most patriotic banners. Prizes will include tickets to the annual Turkey Derby in November. An “on-track” party for fans will also be a part of the September 11 festivities.

SHANON MONGEAU BEATS UNCLE TO WIN 75 LAP FACTORY STOCK RACE AT WALL STADIUM

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Shanon Mongeau of Brick battled with his uncle and several other competitors from start to finish to win the 75-lap Factory Stock championship race at Wall Stadium Saturday night. It was Mongeau’s second win of the season and came in front of a large “Family Fun Night” crowd.

After a mishap on the first green flag forced a complete restart, Joey Helberg of Union darted to the lead early with Shanon Mongeau and Brick’s Joe Mongeau close behind. Helberg paced the first five laps before Joe Mongeau dove to the inside lane and passed both cars to take over the lead.

With no caution flags to slow the action lapped cars soon came into play as the top runners circled the oval. Shanon Mongeau chased his uncle all the way to lap 42 when he dove to the inside lane and emerged the leader of the contest. Still this race was far from over as Joe Mongeau stayed right on his nephew’s rear bumper before finally slowing with overheating trouble with just ten laps to go.

The second and final caution of the race finally waved for debris on the track with just five laps remaining tightening up the top four runners. Once back to action Shanon Mongeau raced on to victory while Rick Williams of Red Bank, Helberg and Joe Mongeau completed the top four. Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach was fifth.

“I’ve raced in just about every division on both dirt and pavement and these Factory Stocks are the most fun,” Shannon Mongeau said after the win. “It is a lot of fun racing and even more fun racing a family member. I have to thank my uncle, my dad and my whole family for supporting me.”

Toms River High School student Derek Hopkinson held off some of the best drivers in INEX Legend Cars racing to win the companion 30-lap feature. For almost the entire distance Hopkinson held off defending champion Mark Tischler of Martinsville, Mike Alcaro of Newton and current point leader Trevor Alspach of Willingboro as they swapped positions. Alcaro and Alspach were knocked out of the top five when they tangled in the closing laps.

At the finish Tischler and Ken Van Wickle of Spring Lake Heights chased Hopkinson across the finish line. Brian Spencer of Edison and early leader Luke Marzano were fourth and fifth.

Stock car action continues at Wall Stadium this Saturday night, August 28, with five divisions of racing action. The INEX Legend Cars will lead the way in an extra distance 40-lapper, while the Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will also go the 40-lap distance. The Sportsman racers and the Street Stocks will compete in 25-lappers, while the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on August 28, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. The regular practice session will be up at 4:00 p.m., while grandstand seating will also open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action is set for 7:30 p.m.

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Chas Okerson of Freehold continued his bid to become a repeating driving champion by winning the 76-lap “John Blewett III Memorial” Modified stock car race Saturday night at Wall Stadium. The annual event is presented in the memory of the popular Howell driver who lost his life in a racing accident in Connecticut three years ago.

After a front row starting position was chosen for him in a blind draw, Okerson survived an initial start front stretch mishap before charging to the lead on the ensuing restart. Chris Hamilton of North Haledon was then the first challenger for the top spot as he haunted Okerson through the middle of the race. Hamilton also endured pressure as his racing teammate, Pete Brittain of Allentown, ran third.

Once past the 40-lap mark, Brittain turned up the steam as he advanced to second with 43 laps down. He then chased Okerson all the way to the finish line before settling for second. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls was third, with Hamilton holding on for fourth and Roger Coss of Lafayette crossing the line fifth.

“It is an honor to win this race in John’s memory,” Okerson said after his fourth Supreme Manufacturing Modified win of the year. “We are thinking about John and his family tonight.

“My car was very good tonight from the time we took it off the trailer. My dad and my family take care of that. This car is always good.”

In support division action, Chris Lane of Howell jumped to the lead early and raced to his first ever Sportsman stock car 25-lap feature race win. Brick’s Robert Sutphin chased Lane most of the way, before Eric Mauriello of Howell slipped past Sutphin for second on the closing lap. Charlie Kremer III and David Calabrese, both of Toms River, were fourth and fifth.

Gregg Miranda of Hazlet led the first ten laps of the Street Stock 25-lapper before Anthony Crimaldi of Port Monmouth took command. Still, former champ Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood was on the move as he slipped into the top spot with just a few laps remaining. Crimaldi and Miranda were second and third at the finish, with Mike Kennedy of Pt. Pleasant and Jackson’s Howie Conk fourth and fifth.

Point leader Trevor Alspach of Willingboro grabbed the lead on lap 13 and then raced on to his eighth win of the year in the Legend Cars 25-lapper. Kenny Van Wickle of Spring Lake Heights, who led earlier in the race, crossed the line second, with Brian Spencer of Edison, Ron Poley of Egg Harbor Twp. and Eatontown’s Malcolm Campbell third through fifth.

Shanon Mongeau of Brick crossed the finish line first in the 20-lap nightcap for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks, but when his car failed a post-race inspection Todd Pilla of Beachwood was awarded the win. Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach, point leader Rob Longo of Wall, Tuckerton’s Robby Walton and Rick Williams of Red Bank were second through fifth.

Stock car action then continues at Wall Stadium this Saturday night, August 21, with “Family Fun Night” racing action. The Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will lead the way in a 75-lapper, while the Legend Cars, Sr. Champ Karts, Micro Stocks and the 4C SuperModifieds will also be on the card.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on August 21, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. The regular practice session will be up at 4:00 p.m., while grandstand seating will also open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action is set for 7:30 p.m. This Saturday night “summer schedule” will be in effect through Labor Day weekend.

FARRELL SWEEPS WALL TOURING MODIFIED TWIN 25’S SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ It appears that only an injury can keep Modified stock car driver Tommy Farrell from victory lane at Wall Stadium!

The Neptune resident grabbed a couple of main event wins earlier this season before taking top honors in the mid-July Garden State Classic. After that victory Farrell sat out a couple of races to recuperate from fractured ribs suffered in a non-racing accident.

Farrell not only returned to action on Saturday night but also returned to his winning ways as he swept both 25-lap main events presented for the Touring Modified stock cars.

A young fan made Farrell’s job relatively easy in the first race by picking a front row starting slot for Farrell in a blind draw. Farrell then led Howell’s Jamie Tomaino in the early going before Pete Brittain of Allentown took over second and went after the leader. Still, Farrell had the needed power to hold off Brittain and Tomaino, while Danny Sammons of Trenton and Rich Kuiken, Jr. of Tuckerton completed the top five.

Tomaino won a first lap battle with Sammons to lead early in the second 25-lapper, but Farrell was flying and quickly advanced to the leader’s rear bumper. Soon this duo was racing side-by-side before Farrell dove to the inside lane to take the lead. Farrell then fought off Tomaino the rest of the way while Brittain crossed the finish line third. Sammons and Chatham’s Bill Weichert were fourth and fifth.

“I have to say that the young fan made my job easy in the first race with his pick,” Farrell said. “In the second race I knew I had to try to grab the lead quickly because Jamie (Tomaino) was so fast and the other guys were coming up on me fast. I dove in low on him a little harder than I wanted to when I got the lead.”

Toms River High School student David Calabrese grabbed the lead early and raced on to his career first victory in the companion 25-lap Sportsman feature race. Kevin Davison and Chris Lane, both of Howell, Holmdel’s Andrew Krause and Kyle Reinhardt of Neptune City completed the top five.

Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. was the first driver to the finish line in the 25-lapper for the Street Stocks, but when his No. 1 failed a post-race inspection Howie Conk of Jackson was awarded the win. Conk held off Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood, Keansburg’s Jerry Stanzione, Dave Jennings of Toms River and Hazlet’s Gregg Miranda.

Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach jumped to the lead early and then raced to his first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock win. Shannon Mongeau of Brick raced through the pack to be on Downey’s bumper in the closing laps, while Tim O’Shea of Neptune, Jamesburg’s Whitey Miller and Wall’s Roy Farfel were third through fifth.

Willingboro’s Zack Alspach won his second Legend Cars 25-lapper for the year, beating his point leading brother Trevor to the finish line. Brian Spencer of Edison, Luke Marzano and Bridgewater’s Mike Fulton completed the top five.

Wall Stadium’s upcoming weekend starts off on Friday evening (August 13) as the track presents its monthly “Friday Night Cruise Night.” The gathering, which is free of charge for all, features custom, antique and muscle cars on display in a car show setting in the paved pit area, music and the opportunity for the car owners to take a cruise around the famous high banked oval. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the gathering continues until dark.

Stock car action then continues at Wall Stadium this Saturday night, August 14, with five divisions of stock car racing. The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will return to battle in the 76 lap “John Blewett III Memorial.” The Sportsman cars, Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on August 14, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.

TOURING MODIFIEDS SET FOR

WALL STADIUM “TWIN 50’S” ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 7

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Wall Stadium promoter Jim Morton says that he is looking forward to hosting an impressive field of Touring Modified stock cars when his third mile paved oval hosts “Twin 50” lap main events this Saturday night, August 7.             Former speedway driving champion “Pistol Pete” Brittain of Allentown will be the man to beat as he swept both feature races in the season’s first Touring Modifieds “Twin 50” lap races back on May 8. COLE AND OKERSON SPLIT WALL MODIFIED TWIN 20’S SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Second year Modified stock car driver Billy Cole of Farmingdale and defending Modified driving champion Chas Okerson of Freehold were winners Saturday night in “Twin 20” lap main events at Wall Stadium. For Cole it was his first ever Modified main event win while Okerson enjoyed his third win of the campaign.

Cole wasted no time in charging to the front of the first 20-lapper as Shaun Carrig of Little Falls ran second. Soon Carrig’s attention was shifted from the leader to the drivers behind him as Chris Hamilton of North Haledon and Freehold’s Steven Reed closed in. While Cole romped on to his initial victory, the battle for second kept everyone’s attention as Carrig fought off Hamilton and Reed for runner-up honors. Jackson’s Kevin Flockhart was fifth.

“I have to thank (car-owner) Chris Jenkins and my crew for this,” Cole said. “When we got together a lot of people though we had outdated equipment. We have great equipment and a great crew. My dad has put in a lot of time for this to happen.”

Farmingdale’s John McCormack jumped to the lead in the second Supreme Manufacturing Modified 20-lapper and paced the first five laps while Okerson moved into contention. Okerson then charged into the lead, while Cole’s great night continued as he advanced to second three laps later.

Okerson and Cole then raced in first and second spots the rest of the way while McCormack held on for an impressive third place finish. Flockhart and Roger Coss of Lafayette were fourth and fifth.

“I don’t know if we had the best car out here tonight, but it was good,” Okerson said. “My family and my crew take care of that. We still have the point lead, but it is still early. We have a lot of racing to go.”

Kyle Reinhardt of Neptune City challenged for 15 laps before racing into the lead and then raced on to victory in the companion 25-lapper for the Sportsman racers. It was Reinhardt’s first ever Wall Stadium win.

MODIFIEDS RACE IN TWIN 20’S SATURDAY AT WALL STADIUM –

MAIN EVENTS GET GREEN FLAG AT 7:30 P.M.

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ After a popular race format debut last Saturday evening, Wall Stadium will again present “Twin 20’s” for the Supreme Manufacturing Modified stock cars this Saturday night (July 31). Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 6:30 p.m. and main event racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Although defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold is currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition in his quest for Modified “Twin 20” glory and a second straight crown. Freehold’s Steve Reed and Jackson’s Kevin Flockhart were winners last Saturday evening in “Twin 20’s” action, but competition will also come from Roger Coss of Lafayette, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Tim Arre of Toms River, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and David Reinhardt of Neptune City, just to name a few.

While 2009 champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will lead the Sportsman field in Saturday’s companion 25-lapper, standouts Robert Sutphin of Brick, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Kevin Davison of Howell, 2009 “Rookie of the Year” Andrew Krause of Holmdel and last week’s winner Eric Mauriello of Howell will be among those offering competition.

In the INEX Legend Cars ranks, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach and his brother Zack Alspach are sure to be at the front of the pack, while point leader Howie Conk of Jackson attempts to stretch his slim advantage in the Street Stock 25-lapper. Rob Longo of Wall, the track’s first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock driving champ and current point leader, will be going after his fifth win of the season in the 20-lapper this Saturday night.

The current schedule for the July 31 card will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 4:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will start at 6:30 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 7:30 p.m.

REED AND FLOCKHART TOP WALL MODIFIED TWIN 20’S SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Veteran Modified stock car drivers Steven Reed of Freehold and Kevin Flockhart of Jackson were winners Saturday night in “Twin 20” lap main events at Wall Stadium. In a new format, once the first 20-lap main event was completed a young fan determined, by a blind draw, that the top eight finishers would be inverted and the second 20-lapper was contested immediately.

Shaun Carrig of Little Falls jumped to the lead at the outset of the first 20-lapper, but Reed was on his bumper at once. Reed needed just two laps to drive into the lead and then held off defending track champ Chas Okerson of Freehold to the finish. Farmingdale’s Billy Cole, Carrig and Flockhart completed the top five.

“The car was just about perfect thanks to my crew,” Reed said after the win. “I want to dedicate this win to Alice Geibel who passed away this week. She was a very good friend to our family and to everyone here at Wall Stadium.”

Young David Reinhardt of Neptune City charged to the front in the second Supreme Manufacturing Modified 20-lapper and looked like he may be racing to his first ever stock car win. That all changed on the 16th lap as he spun in turn four. Flockhart, who was replacing Neptune’s Tommy Farrell in the No. 08 for the night, then raced home to the win over Roger Coss of Lafayette, Cole, Okerson and James Pritchard.

“It feels great to win here again,” Flockhart said. “I just found out that I was driving this car last night. Tommy Farrell hurt his ribs and couldn’t race it tonight. I’m sure glad they asked me!”

Eric Mauriello of Howell took command of the 25-lap Sportsman feature race with just six laps remaining and raced home to his first ever Wall Stadium win. Andrew Krause of Holmdel finished second to the Howell High School student, while Mike Smith of Spring Lake Heights and David Calabreese and Charlie Kremer III, both of Toms River, completed the top five.

Elliott Wohl of Freehold crossed the finish line first in the 20-lapper for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks, but when his car failed a post race inspection Rick Siddons of Beachwood was awarded his second win of the season. Point leader Rob Longo and Roy Farfel, both of Wall, were second and third, while Union’s Joey Helberg and Brick’s Shannon Mongeau were fourth and fifth.

The 25-lapper for the Legend Cars was a family battle with Zach Alspach of Willingboro beating his brother Trevor to the finish line in a thriller. Brian Spencer of Edison, Kenny Van Wickle of Spring Lake and Malcolm Campbell of Eatontown were third through fifth.

Mike Kennedy of Point Pleasant raced into the lead early and stayed out front all the way to win the 25-lap Street Stock main event. Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood, Keansburg’s Jerry Stanzione, Gregg Miranda of Hazlet and Jackson’s Howie Conk completed the top five.

Jon Gambuti won the 25-lapper for the visiting ATQMRA Three Quarter Midgets over Austin Fehr and Mike Tidaback.

Wall Stadium roars back into action this Saturday night, July 31, with five divisions of stock car racing. The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap feature race; the Sportsman cars, Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on July 31, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.

On Sunday, August 1, the fifth mile paved “inner oval” returns to action with the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars and Micro Stocks starting at noon. For more information call 732-681-6400 or visit http://www.wallsundayseries.com.

FARRELL WINS WALL STADIUM MODIFIED

GARDEN STATE CLASSIC SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Tommy Farrell III, as well known for his racing misfortunes as for his driving talent, had the best night of his stock car racing career Saturday as he won the 50th running of the “Garden State Classic” at Wall Stadium. The Neptune resident stayed in contention throughout the entire 150-lap distance before taking the lead late in the contest.

Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and Steven Reed of Freehold wrestled for the lead early in the event before tangling exiting turn four after a lap 13 restart. Reed’s No. 55 was knocked from the race with damage, while Cole was instructed to leave the track by officials for his involvement in the mishap.

At that point, Freehold’s Chas Okerson raced into the lead with Chris Hamilton of North Haledon and Farrell running second and third. For most of the next 100 laps Okerson, the defending track champion, and Hamilton diced for the lead while Farrell watched from third.

Lap 117 marked a major turning point in the race as nearly every car in the field pitted for two new tires. Farrell’s winning move may have very well been made in the pit area as he returned to the track before Okerson to take the lead. From that point on Okerson ran a tight second and challenged Farrell nearly ever lap before the duo crossed the finish line in tight formation. Hamilton, Ken Woolley, Jr. of Howell and Lafayette’s Roger Coss completed the top five.

“The pit crew won this race for me,” Farrell said in the winner’s circle. “They got those tires changed fast. Our game plan was to just cruise in contention until that pit stop. My spotter had to keep telling me to be patient until then. He kept telling me to slow down.”

Howie Conk of Jackson took the early lead in the companion Street Stock 25-lapper and fought his way through lapped traffic to take the win. Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen was the tight runner-up, while Gregg Miranda of Hazlet, Mike Kennedy of Pt. Pleasant and Mike Tillett of Bayville were third through fifth.

Tim O’Shea of Neptune was the top man in the 20-lap Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock field as he grabbed his first career victory. Whitey Miller of Jamesburg was second at the stripe, while Wall’s Rob Longo, Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach and Rick Siddons of Beachwood rounded out the top five.

Mike Renn won a race-long battle with runner-up Wes Gilbert to take top honors in the 25-lap feature for the visiting 4C SuperModifieds.

Wall Stadium stock cars roar back into action this Saturday night, July 24, with rescheduled “Pack the Track” night that was rain postponed on July 10. On Saturday all fans age five and under will be admitted free of charge, fans age 6 through 11 will be admitted for just $6 and fans age 12 and over will pay a ticket price of just $10. An “On Track Party,” where fans will be welcome to walk the speedway and get an up close look at every car parked on the track, will be one of the highlights of the evening.

The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap feature race; the Sportsman cars, Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. The open cockpit TQ Midgets will visit for a 25-lap main event and the young racers from the Garden State Quarter Midgets will be honored. Food will be available from the speedway’s refreshment stands and participants will get the chance to cruise around Wall Stadium’s famous third mile high banked oval as the track’s pace car will lead groups of cars around the track though out the evening. Several of the speedway’s racecar drivers also plan to display their machines and meet with those from the surrounding community during the evening.

Then on Saturday night (July 10) auto racing fans will be treated royally as promoter Jim Morton has announced a “Pack the Track” promotion offering young fans five and under free admission, children 6 through 11 a $6 admission and fans 12 and older admission for just $10. Spectator gates open at 4:00 p.m., qualifying will start at 5:15 p.m., an “On Track Party” begins at 6:15 p.m. and main event racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

“The economy is tough for everyone these days and I just wanted to offer a real affordable night to allow everyone a chance to come to the races,” Morton said. “I hope everyone can spread the word and take advantage of this special night.”

The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap feature race on Saturday; the Sportsman cars, Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. An “On Track Party,” where fans will be welcome to walk the speedway and get an up close look at every car parked on the track, will be one of the highlights of the evening.

On Sunday (July 11), the fifth mile paved “inner oval” continues the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. CARRIG WINS MODIFIEDS; KOPF TAKES STREET STOCK 50 LAPPER

AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Shaun Carrig of Little Falls in the Modifieds and Rick Kopf of Keyport in the “Bobby Thomas Memorial” Street Stock 50-lapper became first time stock car racing winners for the 2010 season at Wall Stadium Saturday night. Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck in the Sportsman division, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach in the Legend Cars and Wall’s Rob Longo in the Factory Stocks also celebrated the Independence Day weekend with stock car racing wins.

In the Supreme Manufacturing Modified 40-lapper, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole jumped out to the early lead with Carrig soon advancing to his bumper. Contender Tommy Farrell of Neptune, who was riding in the top five, spun on lap 13 to trigger a pile-up and force the race’s only caution flag.

Once back to action Carrig was able to power past Cole and into the lead, but soon Steven Reed of Freehold and Howell’s Chas Okerson were close behind in second and third. Although Reed pressured the leader all the way, Carrig was able to hold on to the win over Reed and Okerson. Farrell recovered from his early trouble for fourth and Cole was fifth.

In the Street Stock 50-lapper, Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. and Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls wrestled for the lead until they tangled in traffic in the first turn on lap 22. When they both went to the rear of the field, Rick Kopf moved to the front and never looked back. As the event reached the final laps Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen closed in to challenge, but Kopf held on for the biggest win of his career. Vanderveen, Middletown’s Rob Hyer, Gregg Miranda of Hazlet and Thomas were second through fifth.

Kevin Eyres jumped to the lead early and then raced to victory in the Sportsman division 25-lapper. Finishing second behind the four-time winner was Kyle Reinhardt of Neptune City who recovered from an early race tangle to race through the field and claim the runner-up spot. Brick’s Robert Sutphin was third, with Eric Mauriello of Howell and Brick’s Tim Stephan rounding out the top five.

Alspach raced from a seventh starting spot to win his sixth 25-lapper for the Legend Cars this season. Howell’s Robert French, Edison’s Brian Spencer, Luke Marzano and Ron Poley of Egg Harbor Township were second through fifth.

It took Longo 12 laps to race from a sixth starting spot and into the lead in the 20-lap nightcap for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks. Longo then raced on to his third win of the year while extending his point lead. Shannon Mongeau of Brick started dead last in the field and crossed the finish line second, while early leader John Bowers of Pt. Pleasant was third. Neptune’s Mike Bilello was fourth and Whitey Miller of Jamesburg was fifth.

This Friday night, July 9, the speedway hosts its free to the public “Cruise Night” starting at 5:00 p.m. On hand to cover all the fun of the antique, classic and muscle cars will be News 12 New Jersey with anchor Roxanne Evans planning to host the coverage.

Wall Stadium stock cars then roar back into action this Saturday night, July 10, with “Pack the Track” fan appreciation night. On Saturday all fans age seven and under will be admitted free of charge, while fans age eight and over will pay a ticket price of just $10.

LAST LAP PASS EARNS OKERSON WALL STADIUM

SATURDAY MODIFIED WIN

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ On Saturday night at Wall Stadium defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified stock car driving champion Chas Okerson proved that “never give up” is a great motto to live by. For nearly every one of the 40-laps in the main event Okerson tried and failed to get past leader Billy Cole of Farmingdale.

But that all changed on the final circuit!

Cole jumped to the lead early in this one and it wasn’t long before Howell’s Okerson was in second place. Soon the battle for the win became a three-car fight as Freehold’s Steve Reed broke from the pack and into third spot. Reed’s great run ended near the half way point, however, as mechanical problems knocked him from the race.

From that point on Okerson taunted Cole until the final lap when Cole’s No. 30 drifted just slightly high in the first turn and Okerson dove through the opening and onto the win. Chris Hamilton of North Haledon was third, with Lafeyette’s Roger Coss and Tim Arre of Toms River fourth and fifth.

“Billy (Cole) ran a great race. I could have pushed him a couple of times, but I don’t want to win that way,” Okerson said. “It looked like his car was getting loose later in the race so I was waiting for something to happen. Lucky for me, it did.”

The open cockpit TQ Midgets of the American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association invaded the third mile paved oval for the second running of the 35-lap “Tony Romit Memorial” Saturday night. Veteran Robin Johnston grabbed the prestigious victory over Matt Roselli and Paul Lotier.

Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck raced to his third win of the season in the Sportsman division 25-lapper and took over the point lead in the process. Howell’s Eric Mauriello chased the defending champ across the finish line, with Adam Gordon of Brick, Neptune City’s Kyle Reinhardt and Holmdel’s Andrew Krause finishing third through fifth.

Trevor Alspach of Willingboro crossed the finish line first in the 25-lap main for the Legend Cars, but when his No. 86 failed a post-race inspection Mark Tischler of Martinsville was awarded the win. Zach Alspach of Willingboro, Edison’s Brian Spencer, Malcolm Campbell of Eatontown, and Kevin Nowak of Medford, N.Y. were second through fifth.

Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls notched his fourth win of the year in the 25-lapper for the Street Stocks over Howie Conk of Jackson and Keansburg’s Jerry Stanzione. Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. was fourth and Mike Kennedy of Pt. Pleasant was fifth.

Ricky Siddons, Jr. of Beachwood grabbed his first ever victory in the 20-lap nightcap for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks. Bill Connelly challenged him to the end, while Ronnie Mullen of Brick, Whitey Miller of Jamesburg and Neptune’s Mike Bilello were third through fifth.

Wall Stadium stock cars return to action this Saturday night, July 3, with the Street Stocks in the spotlight in the second annual 50-lap “Bobby Thomas Memorial.” The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap feature race, the Sportsman cars and the Legend Cars will race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature racing set for 6:45 p.m.

FARRELL AND REED WIN TOURING MODIFIED TWIN 50’S

AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Tommy Farrell of Neptune and Freehold’s Steven Reed each posted long awaited victories Saturday night at Wall Stadium as each held off tough competition for 50-lap main event wins in Touring Modified stock car action. Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Sportsman division, Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls, Street Stock division, Kevin Nowak of Medford, N.Y., Legend Cars division and Chris Felber of Brick, Factory Stock division, were support division winners.

In the first Touring Modified 50-lapper, Farrell took advantage of a pole starting position, determined by the luck of the draw, to rocket to the lead at the outset. Anthony Sesely of Matawan was his first challenger before losing the second spot to Reed on lap 31. As Sesely slipped through the field, Reed chased Farrell while Pete Brittain of Allentown and Howell’s Ken Woolley, Jr. advanced to third and fourth.

At the checker flag Farrell enjoyed a slight margin of victory, while Reed, Brittain, Woolley and Sesely completed the top five.

The second Modified 50-lap race saw Danny Sammons of Trenton vault to the lead early with Tony Ferrante, Jr. of Franklin Square, N.Y. and Woolley second and third. Woolley soon took command of the race, while Sesely, Reed and Howell’s Jamie Tomaino advanced to the top four spots.

Sesely soon moved to second and began to attack Woolley. Just before the halfway mark the pair tangled with Woolley spinning from the lead and Sesely heading to the pit area for repairs. Reed was now the leader.

The second half of the contest saw Reed as the top man, but Farrell was looking to make it a perfect night as he rode second. This duo then wrestled all the way to the checker flag with Tomaino finishing third, Sesely fourth and Chas Okerson of Freehold, fifth.

Kremer raced into the lead with seven laps complete in the Sportsman 25-lapper and then drove on to his second win of the season. Kevin Davison of Howell chased him most of the way before settling for second, with Brick’s Robert Sutphin, Kyle Reinhardt of Neptune City and Toms River’s David Calabreeze completing the top five.

Anthony Crimaldi of Port Monmouth crossed the finish line first in the Street Stock 25-lapper, but when his car failed a post-race inspection Thomas was awarded the win. This duo had wrestled the entire race before the checker flag waved. Howie Conk of Jackson was second, Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen, third, Richie Byrne, fourth and Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg, fifth.

When leaders Trevor Alspach of Willingboro, Mark Tischler of Martinsville and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River all had trouble in the closing laps, Nowak was there to race through the carnage and on to his first win of the year in the INEX Legend Car 25-lap feature race. New York invader Tom Hartensveld impressed many by finishing second, while Joe Mongeau of Brick, Kenny Van Wickle of Spring Lake and Brian Spencer of Edison were third through fifth.

After trying for years with countless close finishes, Felber took the lead on the second lap and grabbed his first ever victory in the 20-lap nightcap for the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks. Former champ Rob Longo of Wall chased him to the line, with Rick Siddons of Beachwood, Brick’s Paul Hartwig and John Bowers of Point Pleasant completing the top five.

Wall Stadium stock cars roar back into action this Saturday night, June 19, with the Sportsman cars taking the spotlight in a 50-lap feature event. The Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap feature race, the Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will both race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature racing set for 6:45 p.m.

On Sunday, June 20, the fifth mile paved “inner oval” returns to action after two weeks off with the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. SESELY AND COSS WIN MODIFIED TWIN 35’S

AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Roger Coss of Lafayette each earned an extra reason to enjoy their “Memorial Day” weekend by winning in “Twin 35” lap Modified stock car feature races at Wall Stadium Saturday night. Sesely’s win was his second straight and his third of the season, while Coss, a Modified rookie, grabbed his first ever win in the powerful racecar division.

In the first Supreme Manufacturing Modified feature, Sesely jumped to the lead early and never looked back. Brick’s Ron Frees, in his first Modified race of the season, ran second for more than half the race before defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold finally slipped into second. Sesely and Okerson raced on to claim the top two spots, while Frees fought off Freehold’s Steven Reed for third. Bob Boardwick of Hazlet was fifth.

“We put new tires on the car for tonight and that really paid off,” Sesely said. “A lot of great people make this car go like it does. I am just the lucky guy who gets to drive it.”

After finishing sixth in the first race, Coss rocketed to the lead early in the second Modified main event and held off early race assaults from Reed. Later in the contest Coss stretched an advantage as Sesely moved in to challenge Reed for second. Coss was able to hold his advantage to the finish, with Reed fighting off Sesely for second. Okerson was fourth and Boardwick was fifth.

“It took a little time to learn how to pass in these cars,” Coss said of his Modified. “These cars are a lot wider than the Legend Cars that I drove last year. Still, I think we all learned pretty quickly.”

Charlie Kremer III of Toms River and Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck wrestled side-by-side for several laps in the Sportsman 25-lap feature before Eyres was finally able to power into the lead in the outside lane on the sixth circuit. Eyres then raced on to his second win of the year with Kremer close behind. Howell’s Eric Mauriello was third, while Mike Smith of Spring Lake Heights and Lavallette’s Christian LaCicero were fourth and fifth.

Derek Hopkinson of Toms River raced into the lead on the third lap and then held his ground to the finish to win his first ever 25-lapper for the INEX Legend Cars. Hopkinson fought off four-time winner Trevor Alspach of Willingboro and defending champion Mark Tischler of Martinsville for the win. Brian Spencer of Edison and Ron Poley of Egg Harbor Township were fourth and fifth.

Bayville’s Mike Tillett was the early leader of the Street Stock 25-lap feature, but seventh starting Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls charged through the pack to take the lead on lap 16 and never looked back. Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. was the runner-up, while Tillett, Hazlet’s Gregg Miranda and Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen completed the top five.

Vern McLaughlin borrowed a car to race and crossed the finish line first in the 20-lap Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock feature, but when that car failed a post-race inspection Todd Pilla of Beachwood was awarded his first ever main event win. Union’s Joey Helberg was second, while Tom Mikolajczyk of Bayville, Neptune’s Tim O’Shea and John Bowers of Point Pleasant were third through fifth.

The stock cars get this coming weekend off as the national “Formula D Drift Championship” comes to the Jersey Shore. Ticket information and schedules are available at www.formulad.com.

Wall Stadium stock cars then roar back into action on Saturday night, June 12, with the Touring Modified stock cars returning to headline a five-division card. While the Modifieds will battle in “Twin 50” lap feature races, the Sportsman racers, the Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will all race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature.

In the INEX Legend Cars ranks, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach will attempt to become the division’s first ever driver to win five straight 25-lappers at the speedway, while point leader Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. attempts to stretch his slim advantage in the Street Stock 25-lapper. Rob Longo of Wall, the track’s first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock driving champ, will be going after his third win of the young season in the 20-lapper this Saturday night.

The current schedule for the May 29 card will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 3:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will start at 5:45 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 6:45 p.m.

SESELY (MODIFIED) AND LONGO (FACTORY STOCK) WIN WALL STADIUM 40-LAPPERS SATURDAY NIGHT

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Anthony Sesely of Matawan in the Modified division and Rob Longo of Wall in the Factory Stock class were the stars of the show Saturday night at Wall Stadium as each tasted victory in 40 lap stock car racing main events. Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood in the Street Stocks, Andrew Krause of East Brunswick in the Sportsman division and Trevor Alspach of Willingboro in the Legend Cars were all winners of 25-lap companion main events.

In the Supreme Manufacturing Modified race, Freehold’s Steven Reed and Sesely battled for the lead through most of the first three-quarters of the contest. Then, on lap 27, the duo tangled on the backstretch with Reed’s car spinning to the infield. Sesely then raced on to his second win of the year, while defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold was a tight second. Tim Arre of Toms River, Amanda Sesely of Matawan and Neptune’s Tommy Farrell completed the top five, while Reed recovered for sixth.

“I did not mean for that to happen,” Sesely said of his contact with Reed. “We were racing hard and I was on him, but I was not trying to turn him and didn’t want that to happen. I guess I will have to live with that.”

In the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock 40-lapper, Tom Fratesi of Flemington led the early laps and fought off the advances of Shannon Mongeau of Howell. By the tenth lap Longo raced into second spot and went after the leader. This duo came together exiting the fourth turn a few laps later with Longo’s car slamming the guardrail as a result. Longo was able to continue, but lost several spots on the track as a result.

Roy Farfel of Wall took over the top spot at that point, but Longo was charging! After racing side-by-side with Farfel for several laps, Longo slipped into the lead on the inside lane on lap 21 and then raced on to victory. Tim O’Shea of Neptune was second, while Jamesburg’s Whitey Miller, Steve Lynch of Aberdeen and Rick Siddons of Beachwood completed the top five.

“We were coming out of turn four side-by-side and Fratesi ran me into the fence,” Longo said of his early race incident. “When I saw that he crashed a few laps later I thought good for him.”

Trevor Alspach made speedway history Saturday night becoming the first driver to ever win four 25-lap INEX legend Cars feature races in a row. Alspach took over the lead just past halfway and led Kevin Nowak of Medford, N.Y. to the finish line. Brian Spencer of Edison, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Martinsville’s Mark Tischler were third, fourth and fifth.

In the Sportsman 25-lapper, Krause took control at the outset and fought off the advances of defending champ Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck for almost the entire distance. Randy MacConnell of Toms River was third, while Adam Gordon of Brick was fourth and Sayreville’s Bernie Bailey was fifth.

In Street Stock action, Vanderveen showed the way from start to finish to grab his first 25-lap win of the year. Jackson’s Howie Conk chased Vanderveen most of the way before finishing second, with defending champ Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls, third. Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. was fourth and Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg was fifth.

Wall Stadium roars back into action this Saturday night (May 29) with the Supreme Manufacturing Modified stock cars returning to headline a five-division card. While the Modifieds will battle in “Twin 35” lap feature races, the Sportsman racers, the Street Stocks and the Legend Cars will all race in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks will battle in a 20-lap feature. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, with qualifying set for 5:30 p.m. and main events set for 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the fifth mile paved “inner oval” continues the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. For more information call 732-681-6400 or visit http://www.wallsundayseries.com.
